This rug is made with wool. Wool rugs, especially new ones, are prone to shed excess fibers from the weaving process for the first 3-6 months of use. Shedding is a normal characteristic of wool rugs and does not indicate a defect.
Vacuum the rug at least 1-2 times a week to help clean out and remove any loose fibers. Use a low pressure vacuum cleaner without beater bars.
Using a rug pad will help reduce surface friction, and reduce the shedding.
Do not pull "stray" loops. Always cut them back with scissors.
Shedding will gradually diminish with proper maintenance.
Blot spills immediately to keep a stain from setting into your rug.
Use a clean cloth and press firmly to absorb as much liquid as possible. Do not rub, as this can set the stain deeper into the rug.
To clean stains, make a solution of cool water, white vinegar, and a mild detergent such as dish soap. Apply the foam that rises to the top of the solution to the stained area with a clean cloth. Finish using a damp, clean cloth to absorb any residue.
For pet stains, make sure you have absorbed all remaining liquid with a dry paper towel, then sprinkle baking soda over the affected area. Leave it on for 5 minutes, then spray the solution mix onto it. Gently scrub and let sit, then vacuum up the remaining powder.
For harder to remove stains, professional cleaning is recommended.
